Searching for a Newfiedoodle? NewfieDoodles.com looks like a breeder’s site, but it’s a landing page that redirects buyers to the high-volume online seller CrockettDoodles.com. This is a large-to-giant crossbreed — and shipping a giant-breed puppy sight-unseen is a serious concern. Here’s what to know.
About the Newfiedoodle
The Newfiedoodle — also called a Newfypoo — crosses a Newfoundland with a Poodle, producing a large-to-giant, gentle, calm, and devoted ‘gentle giant’ that can top 100 lbs. Their thick coats need heavy grooming, and, like the Newfoundland, many are prone to drooling. Their sweet temperament is genuine, but their sheer size means big food and veterinary costs and a real need to be raised and socialized thoughtfully — not crated and shipped.
From the Newfoundland side, Newfiedoodles can inherit heart disease (subaortic stenosis), hip and elbow dysplasia, cystinuria, and bloat risk; the Poodle adds PRA. Giant-breed puppies are especially vulnerable to the stress of shipping, which makes a redirect-and-ship operation particularly risky here. A responsible breeder runs cardiac, hip/elbow, and eye exams and cystinuria DNA testing, and lets you meet the mother dog.
