Pawrade and Responsible Puppy Sales
In today’s digital world, purchasing a puppy online has never been easier—but convenience doesn’t always mean transparency. Families searching for a new pet should be extremely cautious when using online puppy sales platforms, as our family recently learned firsthand.
Our Elderly Family Member Buys Puppy
Recently, our family faced a distressing situation when an elderly relative—who is neither computer literate nor able to physically able to care for a puppy, purchased a 10-week-old puppy from Pawrade for nearly $4,000.
🔹 The purchase was made without ever speaking directly with the breeder—communication was limited to Pawrade’s sales representative.
🔹 Our family made repeated attempts to cancel the transaction due to valid concerns about the buyer’s capability to care for a puppy but the requests were denied.
🔹 Payments were processed through a third-party website called PetPay, which had glitchy contract access and delayed responses that made the cancellation process even more challenging.
This experience raised serious concerns about Pawrade’s sales practices and whether their processes adequately ensure responsible pet placements.
Concerns with High-Pressure Sales and Transparency
Our experience with Pawrade differed notably from responsible breeders or rescue organizations.
Key issues we experienced:
No direct breeder communication – Unlike reputable breeders who directly communicate to ensure a good match, Pawrade restricted all breeder interactions before purchase.
Difficulty accessing contracts – Technical issues with PetPay made reviewing contract terms difficult.
Delaying cancellation – Pawrade and PetPay discouraged immediate cancellation, ultimately causing the refund window to close.
Refunds denied – Only the shipment fee was refunded, despite multiple early requests to cancel.
Reputable breeders and rescues prioritize responsible placements through detailed home checks, interviews and careful matching. Our interaction with Pawrade did none of this even after we communicated the unique situation of our family member.
Consumer Reviews and Concerns
After this experience, we researched other customer reviews and feedback on independent consumer sites—and found a pattern of similar complaints from buyers.
Customer claims about puppies being delivered ill.
Lack of breeder accountability, making it impossible to verify where the puppies come from before the purchase.
Contracts that favor the company, making cancellations and refunds difficult.
Transparency is essential. A responsible pet adoption process should never feel rushed, pressured, or unclear.
Responsible Pet Adoption: What to Look For
If you’re looking to add a new puppy to your home, consider these key guidelines to avoid unethical pet sales:
✅ Visit the breeder in person – See where the puppies are born and raised.
✅ Ask to meet the parent dogs – Ethical breeders allow you to meet the mother and see the environment.
✅ Avoid impulse purchases – A legitimate breeder will interview buyers to ensure a good match.
✅ Check independent reviews – Look beyond a company’s website and read third-party reviews.
✅ Consider adoption – Millions of dogs in shelters need loving homes!
A good breeder prioritizes the health and well-being of their puppies. If a website makes purchasing a puppy feel as simple as adding to cart, take a step back and do more research.
Be Cautious When Buying Puppies Online
While Pawrade positions itself as a trusted source for purebred puppies, our personal experience left us with serious concerns about transparency, sales tactics, and prioritization of profit over responsible pet placement.
Impulse puppy sales can lead to heartbreak—for both the buyer and the animal.
🔹 Before buying a puppy, research the seller thoroughly.
🔹 Do not support businesses that prevent direct breeder interaction.
🔹 Always verify where your puppy is coming from.
A responsible pet adoption is about more than just money—it’s about ensuring a safe, happy, and healthy home for every dog.
