Bissell Pet Foundation and Stop Online Puppy Mills Interview Part 1. Learn more about puppy mills and why you never want to buy a puppy online.
While I was out running this week, I saw a man walking a puppy, he was coming towards me. I knew right away the dog was most likely from a mill. It was the cutest thing you have ever seen and I had to stop for both reasons. The puppy was “party” colored, fluffy, spunky and adorable.
Most dogs that end up in shelters are there because a human failed them. Not because they are bad dogs. But because someone moved and didn’t make them a priority, or someone had a baby and couldn’t be bothered any longer or they are now just too busy to deal with a dog. Shelter dogs are not broken dogs. They are simple dogs that missed finding the right home the first time.
The joy of adding a puppy to your family is like no other. But finding the right breeder takes a little time and patience. Puppies should not be an impulse item. It’s a purchase that requires a 12-15 year commitment on your part, so think it through before making any decision about adding a dog to your household.
