WeThe Puppies Campaign
Thanks to a generous grant from The Manitou Fund and Nora McNeely Hurley with help from the Bissell Pet Foundation, we would like to introduce We The Puppies. We The Puppies is Stop Online Puppy Mills latest campaign to educate people about the dangers and cruelty supported when buying puppies sight unseen over the internet. These bad breeders list Mini Doodles, Golden Doodles, pure bred dogs like Pugs, French Bulldogs and so many more. No breed is immune. The video warns against websites that list thousands of puppies for sale online direct shipping puppies. Buying puppies online is becoming normalized, families purchasing puppies online likely don’t know they could be supporting puppy mill cruelty.
The video was created by Chief Creative Officer, Cheryl Berman of Unbundled Creative. It was filmed through the eyes of the puppies, puppies born in puppy mills. Imagining their words, the puppies tell a story of where they come from, the conditions they live in, how their parents are treated and why you should never order any puppy online. Younger people are used to buying everything online, so the video draws a stark contrast on why buying a dog online is wrong. The puppies also use examples of things commonly purchased online to draw a comparison that they are not a pair of shoes, a purse, a tie-dyed bikini, a video game, a laptop, or a motorcycle helmet. The video is targeted towards 20 – 45-year-olds and the the background music is a popular Tik Tok song that is played when things have gone drastically wrong. The video depicts people buying puppies online and having them delivered like Amazon packages as drastically wrong. Please share!
